Three students athletes from Brevard have been recognized as some
of the finest basketball players in the nation, through their nomination
to the 2006 McDonald's All-American High School Boys and Girls Basketball
teams.
Around the country, 1,500 male prep basketball standouts and 1,000
female stars were nominated by the McDonald's Selection Committee,
a group of nationally prominent basketball experts.
As nominees, these students will be considered for one of the 24
positions on the Boys Team and on the Girls Team that will compete
in the 2006 McDonald's All-American High School Basketball Games.
The teams will be announced in late February.
The nominees from Brevard County are Markus-Allen Agee and Evaldas
Baniulis, both of Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, and Stephanie
Sarosi, of Astronaut High School in Titusville.
This year's 29th Anniversary McDonald's Game will be played March
29 at Cox Arena on the campus of San Diego State University. It will
be broadcast live on ESPN at 7 p.m. PST (10 p.m. EST). The fifth
annual Girls Game will also take place at Cox Arena, tipping-off
at 4:30 p.m. PST (7:30 p.m. EST).
Proceeds from both games will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities
of San Diego.
