Pilot Program
The private
pilot program consists of five different phases
totaling 40 hours of flight. The five program phases
are: Flight Basics, Pre-Solo, Solo, Cross Country, and
Test Preparation which prepares the student for the Federal
Aviation Administration tests.
The private pilot course is designed
to teach a student all he will need to be a safe
and proficient pilot. He will also receive flight
equipment and ground school at Florida Air Academy
to enable the student to learn all the subject
material. The student must be 16 years old, possess
a class III medical certificate and a student pilot
license in order to solo an airplane.
To become a private pilot, the minimum age is 17.
The flight instructor assigned to the student determines
when he is ready, not the collection of a set number
of flight hours. Safety is the top priority!
In each phase the cadet builds on his knowledge
to reach the goal of receiving his Private
Pilot License. Cadets who successfully complete
the
program take
three separate tests required by the Federal Aviation Administration: written,
oral, and practical (flight).
Commercial
License and Instrument Rating
Students with a Private Pilot's License may enroll
in advanced training to attain their Commercial Pilot
Certificate, Instrument Rating, or Multi-Engine Rating.
