Leadership/AFJROTC Curriculum

The United States Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program (AFJROTC) is an integral and vital aspect of the Florida Air Academy experience.  The Academy’s unit (FL-32) has been an “Honor Unit” for a number of years, which places FAA in the top 20% of all AFJROTC units across the country.  We are very proud of this designation and continually strive to maintain our Honor Unit status.

AFJROTC instruction is provided to our cadets by officially authorized U.S. Air Force instructors in areas such as leadership education, astronautics, survival, life management skills, military protocol, advanced technology and a number of other topics related to the mission of the U.S. Air Force.  Instruction in drill, proper wearing of the uniform, and the development of an understanding of and belief in the cadet Honor Code are also taught in the Aerospace Science (AS) classes.

Enrollment in the AS course is required for every first year cadet, and continued enrollment is strongly encouraged for all cadets. It is also required for those interested in Service Academy appointments or consideration of ROTC college scholarships.

congratulations to Florida air Academy's AFJrotc on its selection to receive the distinguished unit award for 2005-2006. Congratulatory letters and certificates will be mailed to Col. Dwight on 5 May 2006 and a streamer will be mailed to our unit. as the afjrotc Director, Col. Balchunas pointed out, "Nominated schools identified countless and wonderful things that afjrotc is doing to make a positive impact in their host schools and local communities. I appreciate all your efforts in developing citizens of character dedicated to serving the nation and your communities."

Only 10% of schools receive this distinction!
