March 25th @ 6:00 pm in the Library
At the close of
the international festival, someone mistakenly picked up a basket from the
dessert/drink table. The basket is about 3 feet x 1.5 feet , has leather
handles and was used to serve cookies. This basket has great sentimental value
to it's owner who would greatly appreciate getting it back. Please direct
questions to Bonnie in Guidance at ext. 30031.
Thanks!
GUIDANCE:
1.
Following a recent and thorough
review of each cadet's complete academic record, 2008 Summer School warning
letters were sent to those who may need Summer School
to be promoted to the next grade. Selection of recipients of these letters was
based on existing academic deficiencies or on our inability to obtain official
transcripts from previous schools in order to make a complete and valid
assessment of a student's current academic standing. Please contact your
son's/daughter's guidance counselor listed below with any
questions.
2.
Our tutoring
program is
still accepting students needing extra academic help. Any parents
interested in obtaining tutoring for their son or daughter should contact Mrs.
Lisa Gray at lgray@flair.com or your
son's/daughter's guidance counselor listed below. There is an additional fee for
this tutoring service.
3.
Registration for the Advanced
Placement exams (scheduled for May) is taking place now in all AP classes.
Should you want your son/daughter
NOT
to take one of more of these exams,
please contact Ms. Laura Zamjahn whose contact information is given below.
Please keep in mind that
there is an additional fee for these
AP exams (approximately $85.00 each), but a passing score could very well result
in the earning of college credit.

Information:
A.
Seniors are continually being encouraged to
visit their college counselor to follow up on applications to those colleges
from which they've received little or no communication recently. We ask parents
to assist us in this endeavor by reminding their son or daughter to visit
his/her college counselor in Phelps Hall as often as
necessary.
B. Seniors and
their parents should have already completed the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line at: (www.fafsa.ed.gov).
and registered
with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.NCAAClearinghouse.net
and Florida Bright Futures Scholarships @ www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org.
C. Seniors and
their parents should pay close attention to the deadlines for college deposits
which are the fees necessary to hold a space for your son or
daughter in the college/university of his/her choice once he or she has been
accepted. Information about the amount of these deposits and their deadlines is
found on the student's "letter of acceptance".

TECHNOLOGY:
In reference to incoming
calls:
Please note that all incoming phone calls for cadets go directly to
voice mail. To leave a message for your child, you would call the
school at (321) 723-3211 and enter their extension number. The extension
number for your child will be the last four
numbers of their student number preceded by the number
2 (2xxxx). Example student number to be 10375, therefore their telephone extension
number will be 20375. Your child will
then return your call during the times authorized by the Commandant's
Department.
In reference to you
son's email
services:
Effective this school year, FAA no longer provides students with individual email
accounts; this was primarily due to non-use by the students. Your
child may continue to use their personal private email address. Should they not
have one, they can subscribe to many of the free email providers such as
gmail.com, hotmail.com and yahoo.com.
Please feel free to contact us again
if we can help in any way at technology@flair.com
