F.A.A. INTRODUCES ON-LINE
RE-ENROLLMENT!
It's nearly time to begin the process of
re-enrollment for Fall 2008. However, this Spring there will be a significant improvement
to the way parents complete the re-enrollment process. Lengthy amounts of
paperwork and tedious notarizing will become a thing of the past. Parents will
fill out a one page permission form, and then receive an on-line access code.
Once they receive the access code parents will be able to complete the
enrollment agreement and transition kit at their own computer in the comfort of
their own home.
For parents of underclassmen, this
data will be saved and when parents go to re-enroll the following year, their
electronic forms will be available with pre-populated data. This is just
another example of FAA's commitment to providing better customer service and
cutting edge technology.
We are now accepting applications
for our Summer Session 2008! Our summer session is a six-week
non-military program that allows students to earn academic credit while
developing better study skills. Have your child take a class to get ahead,
which will mean more opportunities for advanced courses later! Honors classes are available. Students will also be able to participate in
fun activities such as Equestrian, Scuba, Flight, Sea Camp,
Surfing/Skateboarding and much more! FAA also offers weekly trips to Disney,
Wet and Wild, Blizzard Beach, Busch Gardens and other Central Florida theme
parks. For more information on how to apply, contact the Admissions Department
at 321-723-3211 ext 1
Make this summer a fun AND productive time for your
child!

GUIDANCE:
1. Give your child some extra help
for the SAT College Boards! The SAT Prep course will
begin the week of March 10th in
preparation for the May 3rd SAT. If you're interested for your son or
daughter, please contact Mrs. McMillen in our Accounting Office at: mmcmillen@flair.com or (321) 723-3211, ext. 30015. There is an additional fee for this
course. Make sure your child is prepared
for this extremely important test!
2. Our tutoring
program is still accepting students
needing extra academic help. Any parent
interested in obtaining tutoring for their son or daughter should contact Mrs.
Lisa Gray at lgray@flair.com or your son's/daughter's guidance
counselor listed below. There is an additional fee for this tutoring service.
3. "Class of 2008" Information:
Seniors are continually being encouraged to
visit their college counselor to follow up on applications to those colleges
from which they've received no communication recently. We ask parents to assist us in this endeavor
by reminding their son or daughter to visit their college counselor in Phelps
Hall as often as necessary.
A. Seniors should be fully
aware of college application and deposit deadlines as late submission of
either could preclude acceptance of an otherwise qualified candidate.
B. Seniors and their parents should be completing the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line at (www.fafsa.ed.gov).
C. Seniors are also reminded to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.NCAAClearinghouse.net and Florida Bright Futures Scholarships @ www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org.
4.
Seniors and their parents should pay close attention to the deadlines
for college deposits which are the fees
necessary to hold a space for your son or daughter in the college /university
of their choice once he or she has been accepted. Information about the amount of these
deposits and their deadlines is found on the student's "letter of
acceptance".
5. Parents of international students are advised that nearly
all U.S. colleges and universities require both an "Affidavit of
Support" and a notarized bank letter as a major part of their admission
process. Many of these forms are available on the colleges'/universities'
websites under "International Admissions". Contact your son's or daughter's counselor if
you need assistance with this critical college-related item.
Reminder:
Acceptance to a college or university is a Florida Air
Academy graduation requirement.
6.
Academy Summer Seminars – Juniors interested in attending a military academy after graduation
are strongly encouraged to attend an Academy Summer Seminar. The application process has already begun and
deadlines are fast approaching. Don’t
miss out on this great opportunity.
For more information contact your
son’s/daughter’s guidance counselor or visit one of the websites listed

SPECIAL PROGRAMS:
Remember parents: flight and SCUBA are open entry programs: you may sign up your cadet
any time during the year for these activities.
The following cadets are currently
enrolled and are expected to attend the SCUBA training on the weekend of March
8th and 9th:
Taylor Haines, Nick Gavin, Preston
Frieze, Steven Rios, Jessica Maddox and Taylor Drew.
TECHNOLOGY:
In reference to incoming calls:
Please note that all incoming
phone calls for cadets go directly to voice mail. To leave a message for your child, you would
call the school at (321) 723-3211 and enter their extension number. The extension number for your child will be
the last four numbers of their student number preceded by
the number 2 (2xxxx). Example student number to be 10375, therefore their telephone extension
number will be 20375. Your child will then return your call during
the times authorized by the Commandant's Department.
In reference to you son's email
services:
Effective this school year, FAA
no longer provides students with individual email accounts; this was primarily
due to non-use by the students. Your
child may continue to use their personal private email address. Should they not have one, they can subscribe
to many of the free email providers such as gmail.com, hotmail.com and
yahoo.com.
Please
feel free to contact us again if we can help in any way at technology@flair.com
