Cadets in the News:
What a week for Jeremy Kahn. He received a $60,000 scholarship from Renssalaer Poly Tech Institute and had three of his football pictures in the Florida Today newspaper on Friday last week!! One of them was on the front page of the sports section! Congrats to Cadet Kahn!
On Tuesday, October 16, Young-gee Hong successfully soloed. This cadet has been working very hard towards this goal and was finally rewarded (in addition to his position in the wing diamond, center for the football team, and college acceptance). Please congratulate him on this milestone in his flying career.
Congratulations to the following female cadet's for making the lady Falcon's varsity soccer team! Our first game will be against Saint Edward's on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 7:00pm on Falcon field.

GUIDANCE
1. It was a pleasure for the Guidance staff to meet with a large number of parents during the recent Fall Family Weekend. Numerous topics such as college admissions, tutoring, student involvement in extracurricular activities, and the academic progress of a number of our students were discussed. We hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and we look forward to our parents' next visit to the FAA campus.
2. The ACT-Plan test for our 10th graders has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 1st.
3. Honors/AP Policy: Should any student receive a D or F in his/her Honors or AP class at any printed report (i.e. report card or progress report), he/she has until the next printed report (i.e., 4/5 weeks) to improve that grade to a C or better. Should that improvement not occur, the student is then transferred to the non-Honors/AP section of that class. With this change, the student's grade in the regular class improves one letter grade due to the accelerated pace and increased workload he/she had experienced in the Honors/AP class.
4. Any parent interested in obtaining tutoring for their son or daughter, may contact Mrs. Lisa Gray at lgray@flair.com or your son's/daughter's guidance counselor listed below. There is an additional fee for this tutoring service.
5. Parents are strongly encouraged to contact their son's/daughter's guidance counselor regarding the college application/admission process. Our Seniors have been advised to begin writing their college essays; to procure 2 to 3 letters of recommendation; to compile their high school resumes; to sign up for additional standardized testing, (i.e., ACT, TOEFL, SAT re-test); to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse; to investigate scholarship opportunities and sources; and most of all, to maintain or improve their grades and not procrastinate with their college application material. Parents, please speak to your cadets about this important process and encourage them to complete these tasks!
