CLOSED CAMPUS WEEKEND:

This weekend is a “closed campus” weekend.  What does that mean?  That means there is no home leave; but, there will be town leaves and activities.  Day students have their regular Friday bus runs and Monday morning bus runs.

LABOR DAY:  We will have a full day of classes on Monday.

Academics:

FAA is proud to once again host the Advanced Reading Workshop on Monday and Tuesday, September 10th and 11th.  This workshop teaches students to break bad reading habits and learn new skills that boost reading speed and improve focus and understanding.  The cost of the two-day workshop is $285.00.  A follow-up session is provided at no charge later in the year.  If you would like to enroll or need more information for the Advanced Reading Workshop, please contact Mrs. McMillen in the Accounting Office at mmcmillen@flair.com

GUIDANCE

The 2007-2008 school year is off to an outstanding start.  New students did an exemplary job during their orientation and returning cadets came back to campus with a most upbeat and positive attitude.

Guidance is in the midst of scheduling and adjusting the academic courses for all our students.  We are pleased to announce that we have a large number of our students in Honors and Advance Placement courses.

The Class of 2008 is poised for their final year of high school and the very important college admission process.  All Seniors will take the SAT on October 6th here on the Academy campus.  Seniors who wish to also take the ACT may pick up the necessary registration material in the Guidance Office.  Information about the college application process, TOEFL testing, NCAA Clearinghouse requirements, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the October College Fair, and other issues relevant to our Seniors will be discussed with them on Monday during English class and throughout the school year.
