Academics:

Florida Air Academy will have our annual "Summer Recognition Ceremony" on Friday, July 27th at 8:30 AM in the gymnasium. We will recognize outstanding cadets that have proven themselves either in the classroom or residential life. Some students will also be recognized for their achievements in flight and scuba training. The assembly will last approximately 30 minutes. Students will then spend two hours taking their final examinations. The official check out time for the end of summer session will start at noon. Parents and family are invited to the assembly to show support for those students who excelled in our summer program.

Admissions:

Fall enrollment invitations are being sent to summer students this week. Space is reserved in our 2007/2008 student body for all summer students in good standing. However, you will need to submit the application and tuition by August 15, 2007 in order to confirm a space for your son or daughter. If we have not heard from you by August 15, 2007 we will need to open the space up to students on our waiting list. Please act NOW!!

Next Open House is July 29th at 12:00 noon. We will be located in Classrooms 23-24. If you have any friends or relatives with children who might be a good addition to the cadet corps of FAA, please invite them to this! Enroll now for the fall!

Alumni:

Message from the Class of 1994: Carlos Terrones: "Currently attending Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs; working towards my masters in Public Administration with a concentration in economic and political development. This summer I am working as a consultant for USAID in Central America and the Caribbean. Thanks FAA for the great education and memories; can't forget 1st Squadron-- we were always the last to eat chow!"

Campus Store:

We are going to sell BX and Canteen books through Friday. We will not issue any next week.

GUIDANCE

As the 2007 Summer Session rapidly winds down (less than 2 weeks), many of our students have experienced great success in a number of areas such as academics, flight training, SCUBA, and Driver's Education just to mention a few. Adjustment to the rapid pace of academic instruction and the FAA Summer environment was quick and effortless by a vast majority of our student and after more than 4 weeks of the FAA Summer Session, everyone is well versed in the high expectations which are placed on all of our students. We look forward with eager anticipation to the final 2 weeks of the Summer Session and the end-of-the-Summer awards assembly. We also wish everyone the best of luck with the final exams next week and remind our students to pay close attention to the pre-exam reviews which will be given by each of our teachers in each class next week. (Note: Exams count 20% of the entire summer’s grade)

Academic Assistance Program:

The final 2 weeks of the Academic Assistance Program began this past Monday, July 16th, with the printing and mailing of the final interim progress report.
