Subject: A mighty Oak has Fallen

Just received the news of the passing of Major Hubert Gallagher.  During my time at Florida Air, "The Maj." was my English teacher.  Most importantly,  The Maj. taught us how to be men!!  He kept in touch with all of us through out the thirty six years since we graduated.  In 2005 I was in an accident that left me paralyzed from my chest down.  I was told it would be permanent.  I would spend the rest of my life in a bed, and would be able to get up into a wheel chair on a "good" day for a couple of hours.   When I was at my lowest, I received a call from The Maj.  He spoke to me of love, accomplishments, determination, and acceptance.  Today, I am walking and back to work full time as a manager with Lowe's Home Improvement.

Through out my life, fighting in Vietnam, in college, working up the corporate ladder,  and more,  I have lived my life by the principles and training I received while I was a cadet at Florida Air Academy, but mostly from my friend Major Hubert Gallagher.

If you play in my ball park, you will play by my rules.  This taught me that if you are a player, follow the rules.  If you are in charge, make every one follow your rules.

If you don't like my apples, don't shake my tree.  You get what you ask for, so be careful what that is.

On the flip side.........  There are two sides to everything.  ALWAYS have ALL the facts before you react or make a decision.

I was looking for a job when I found this one!!    Never,, never compromise your morals, or beliefs, nor allow any one to do so.  Not even for a job.  That one was hard to do from time to time.

In closing,  oh, what a wonderful world this could be if every one of us made the same contribution to our world as was made by The Maj.  And of how lucky we at Florida Air Academy were to have had the privilege of having known such a man!
