Major HUBERT GALLAGHER dies

Major Hubert J. Bert Gallagher, U.S. Air Force, (Ret.), a former 30 years resident of Sat ellite Beach, Florida, died Saturday, September 29, 2007, in The Woodlands, Texas.
Bert was born in Oyster Bay, New York on December 1, 1918 to Margaret and James Gallagher who predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his son, Brian Lee Gallagher.
St. Anns Academy in New City is where Bert attended kindergarten through grade 12 of high school. It was there that he developed life long interests in reading, history and current events.
After graduating from Tufts University in Medford, Massa chusetts, he joined the Army Air Corps and later served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years in the Office of Special Investigations retiring in 1962.
Subsequently, he returned to the field of his first love, education, teaching at Prince Technical School in Hartford, Connecticut, Black-Foxe School, Los Angels, California and Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, Florida.
In 1976 Bert and Dotty were married and enjoyed traveling the globe for more than 20 years visiting over 100 countries. Bert leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his wife, Dorothy Gallagher; his sister, Cathleen Chester; his daughter, Sheilah W. Wenzel; his sons, Hubert J. Gallagher, Jr. and Kevin R. Gallagher; his grandson, Shawn J. Gallagher; his step- daughter, Dee Dee Benshoof; their spouses and many friends including former students.
