Guidance Department
The goal of the FAA Guidance Office is to assist our students to realize their academic potential, refine interpersonal skills, and help them develop into happy, productive and successful adults. We strive to provide students with the tools, information and opportunities necessary for them to experience success in all of their chosen endeavours. We support students in their efforts to develop better decision-making skills, leadership qualities, independence, maturity, and self-discipline.
Responsibilities of the Guidance Department include overseeing, coordinating, and assisting with:
| • | Counseling: personal, academic, counseling referrals |
| • | Academic support: After-school teacher assistance, tutoring program, academic assistance program, course selection, scheduling of classes, ensure meeting of graduation requirements, parent/teacher conferences, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and SAT prep. |
| • | College Counseling: assistance with the college admissions/application process, financial aid applications, scholarship searches, career exploration |
| • | Standardized testing (Grades 6-12) |
| • | Student records and transcripts |
| • | Report cards and interim progress reports |
