Discipline

The discipline system at Florida Air Academy is designed to make doing the right thing more attractive than doing the wrong thing!  Demerits (which are worked off through chores and tasks) and restrictions (student gives up his/her free time to remain on campus and do chores, run laps, etc.) are effective tools to achieve this.

Discipline is assigned through the Primary Tactical Officer only.  NO STUDENT ASSIGNS DISCIPLINE TO ANOTHER STUDENT.  Cadet staff may report incidents to the Tac Officer, who then researches the offense and determines consequences if necessary.

For more serious offenses or sustained performance issues, a Discipline Board comprised of administrators from Academics, Infirmary, Guidance, and the Commandant's Department comprise the Board, which is chaired by the Commandant.  Discipline Board recommendations are presented to the President for a final decision.

Students who consistently demonstrate good behavior, leadership and character are recognized through awards that are presented at awards assemblies.  Receiving promotions in cadet rank is also a way to reward good behavior.  Mentoring from tac officers and older students is extremely beneficial and a core part of the discipline system at F.A.A.
