College Admissions
The goal of Florida Air Academy is to ensure that all students are prepared to successfully continue their education at the college or university level upon graduation from F.A.A.
Our College Advisor, Mr. Jason Zingariello, has designed a comprehensive college education program for each grade of high school. He meets many times with each student personally to provide guidance about the college application process. Brochures, videos, CD-ROMs, publications, the Internet and visits to the FAA campus from college admissions representatives are used to expose our students to a variety of college-related information. Students also attend the College Information Fair, which is held each October and provides our students the opportunity to meet with admissions representatives from more than 100 colleges and universities. In addition, college information workshops for parents are presented during Parent Weekends in the fall and spring. What's unique about the F.A.A. program is the individual attention that seniors are given in this critical process, attention that most high schools are simply unable to provide.
Great effort is made to ensure that our students are aware of the multitude of opportunities available to them upon graduation from FAA. The Director of the Guidance Department also oversees the administration of college admissions tests such as the SAT, ACT, and TOEFL. SAT Preparation courses are offered as well, once each semester, which provide students the opportunity to prepare for and improve their scores on this critically important test.
This spring our seniors were accepted into the colleges and universities of their choice on a daily basis. Last year our Valedictorian went to Harvard; this year one of our Valedictorians has been accepted to Harvard, Princeton and Cornell, and our Salutatorian was accepted into the Coast Guard Academy! Last year, our 80 seniors earned over $2.4 Million in scholarships.
